Vince Zampella, the mind behind the globally famous franchise Call of Duty, has passed away in a vehicle crash in Los Angeles, California aged 55.

Zampella's death was announced by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, a game studio he co-founded.

The celebrated industry figure died after his car crashed and was engulfed in flames on a motorway in the Los Angeles area on this past Sunday, as reported by.

"This is an unimaginable loss, and we stand with his family and friends, his family, and all those touched by his work," a representative from Electronic Arts stated.
