Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the pair.
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt ready to express about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can now articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the film, adding that he could not remember "a single day without mirth".
"The movie is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
In a distinct essay, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Recently, a Los Angeles court official decided to block the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the LAPD.
A court order put a embargo on the cases to limit the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" associated with the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a record listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
After the killings, public individuals expressed varying comments.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making divisive claims that were broadly criticized by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his perspective to the critics last week. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan characterized the remarks as "shocking" and remarked they demonstrated a concerning deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan finished by proposing that an adviser could have intervened when the impulse to weigh in on the passing was made.
