An National Colour Scheme and Familiar Emblem

The updated branding uses a red, white and blue colour scheme to reflect the UK flag and will be used on rolling stock, at stations, and across its online presence.

Notably, the logo is the well-known twin-arrow logo historically used by National Rail and first introduced in the 1960s for British Rail.

A Introduction Plan

The rollout of the branding, which was created internally, is scheduled to happen gradually.

Commuters are set to start noticing the freshly-liveried services on the network from spring next year.

During the month of December, the branding will be exhibited at major railway stations, including Birmingham New Street.

A Journey to Nationalisation

The proposed law, which will allow the establishment of GBR, is currently moving through the legislative process.

The administration has said it is taking control of the railways so the service is "owned by the passengers, operating for the passengers, not for profit."

Great British Railways will unify the running of passenger trains and tracks and signals under one umbrella body.

The government has said it will unify 17 different bodies and "eliminate the notorious bureaucracy and accountability gap that hinders the railways."

App-Based Features and Existing Public Control

The introduction of Great British Railways will also involve a new mobile application, which will allow customers to see timetables and reserve journeys free from surcharges.

Passengers with disabilities passengers will also be have the option to use the app to book assistance.

Several train companies had already been taken into public control under the outgoing government, such as Northern.

There are currently 7 train operators already in state ownership, accounting for about a one-third of journeys.

In the last twelve months, South Western Railway have been brought into public ownership, with additional operators expected to be added in 2026.

Ministerial and Industry Comments

"This is not simply a paint job," commented the relevant minister. It represents "a transformed service, leaving behind the problems of the past and dedicated entirely on offering a proper passenger-focused service."

Rail leaders have welcomed the pledge to bettering the passenger experience.

"The industry will carry on to collaborate with relevant bodies to support a seamless transition to Great British Railways," one executive noted.
